✍️ ADVERSITY PRODUCES PERSEVERANCE

James 1 tells us to consider it pure joy when we face challenges of many kinds, because the testing of our faith produces perseverance. Adversity is part of the process God uses to refine us. You can’t run from it, and you can’t complain about it. It’s what builds not only your toughness and strength, but also your character and faith.

For our student-athletes, those testing moments can come from tough practices, the injuries, the losses, the disappointments, those are the things that reveal who you are, not just as an athlete, but as a follower of Christ.

If you respond the right way, leaning on Him, you come out more mature, more disciplined, and more complete, not lacking anything. That’s how you grow into the man or woman God has called you to be.

So don’t look at adversity as a setback. Look at it as an opportunity to get better, both on the field and in your faith. Because in sports, and in life, the ones who endure with joy and keep pressing on are the ones who not only build legacies, but also honor Christ with the way they live and compete

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in my weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

To God be the glory,
