“SEEKING GOD’S KINGDOM AS AN ATHLETE”

As high school athletes, seeking God's kingdom means having a vision that puts God at the center of everything you do. As Christians, we've been taught the importance of this from a young age.

“Keep God First.”

Having a vision that prioritizes serving God and others is essential for making a positive impact and contributing to God's kingdom. When you're planning your path in sports and life, it's crucial to remember this principle. You can't just focus on building your own kingdom. Instead, you should build with the intention of serving God and His people.

Prioritizing service to God and others can take different forms, depending on your unique gifts, talents, or circumstances. Each one of us, as followers of Christ, has been given special abilities meant to play a specific role in building God's kingdom.

These gifts and talents are not just for our benefit; they are given to us with a divine purpose to use them in serving God and others. In 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, the Apostle Paul talks about this idea: "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone, it is the same God at work. Now to each one, the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good."

Although we have different gifts and talents, we all share a common goal of serving the Lord. We are like builders of God’s Kingdom, and just as a house needs various skilled workers, God's work in our lives involves using our diverse talents and abilities.

These gifts come from the Holy Spirit, and we must use them to build His kingdom. When planning our future in sports, we should consider not just what we want to achieve, but also how our unique skills and talents can contribute to God's work. Understanding this principle will help us align our vision with God's will.

Remember, service to God goes beyond grand gestures or holding significant positions on your team. Even small acts of kindness, compassion, and love on and off the field can glorify God and contribute to building His kingdom.

As you play out your athletic career, pray for guidance to understand your gifts and how you can use them to serve God and others through sports.

Understanding your gifts will be crucial in developing your blueprint, ensuring that every aspect of your sports career reflects your commitment to God's calling.

In God's kingdom, no role is insignificant, and every act of service, no matter how small, contributes to building His kingdom. Let your blueprint for your sports journey be a testament to your devotion to God and your willingness to use your talents to serve others and advance His kingdom in the world of sports.

💭 QUOTE OF THE DAY

“At times when I am feeling low,

I hear from a friend and then

My worries start to go away

And I am on the mend.

In spite of all that doctors know,

And their studies never end,

The best cure of all when spirits fall

Is a kind note from a friend.”

That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in my weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
