SACRIFICE: DISCIPLINE > DESIRE
In life, it's easy to be swept away by the allure of victory, recognition, and personal glory. As Christians, we are called to a higher standard—one that requires sacrifice and unwavering faith in the pursuit of excellence. This is a goal not only for ourselves but also for all student-athletes.
In our pursuit of excellence, we often succumb to the pull of worldly desires. The longing for comfort, freedom, progress, and fulfillment can obscure our judgment and draw us away from God's path. We must resist the temptation of the easy path.
It's crucial to acknowledge that unchecked desires, when not aligned with God's will, can sow seeds of spiritual discontent and lead to personal challenges.
The question we must ask ourselves is, "Who am I doing this for?"
Are we doing it for self-glorification, for the approval of others, or for the glory of God?
The call to sacrifice our desires is not an easy one. It requires humility, selflessness, discipline and a willingness to surrender control to God. As we navigate the challenges of life we must evaluate our intentions and seek to realign them with God's purposes.
Ultimately, sacrificing our desires for the glory of God is a daily choice—one that requires courage and perseverance. But as we surrender ourselves to His will, we discover a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment than any earthly pursuit could offer. Let us then continue to strive for excellence, not for our own gain, but to honor and glorify the One who sacrificed everything for us.

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in my weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
To God be the glory,
