🔨 ACHIEVING ATHLETIC EXCELLENCE: PLAN FOR THE LONG GAME, EXECUTE DAILY

Want to become great at anything? Plan for the future, but focus on what you can do today.

For our athletes this means go hard in practice, but be patient with your overall progress.

There’s 3 questions that our athletes need to ask themselves that can apply to any endeavor towards excellence:

  1. What do you want to be?

Don’t get stuck daydreaming about winning state championships or winning games. While having a vision is important, it’s where many athletes remain without taking action.

It’s easier to imagine yourself as the star athlete or breaking records than it is to put in the daily work. Set your goals, but don’t let them distract you from the grind.

  1. What can you do today to improve?

To achieve your athletic goals, break them down into actionable tasks. These might not always seem significant at first glance.

Start each day by asking yourself: “What are the 3 things I must do today to get one step closer to becoming the athlete I want to be?”

Examples of daily actions:

• Complete an extra set of drills or shots after practice

• Spend 30 minutes studying game film

• Improve your nutrition by meal prepping healthy snacks

Maintain consistent discipline to see results on the field or court.

  1. How can you adapt your approach?

Adapting is where real growth happens in sports.

Maybe your current routine isn’t yielding the results you want. Be flexible and willing to admit when something isn’t working. Embrace the learning process and be open to feedback from coaches and teammates.

Becoming great at anything is about the journey of continuous improvement. P

lan for your future success, but focus on executing daily actions that will get you there. Stay committed to your goals, but be willing to adapt your approach as you learn and grow.

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in my weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

To God be the glory,
